would you ever bother making your own ice cream? (with an ice cream machine of course!)?

I retain coming across a recipe book in Borders produced by Ben & Jerry's and intelligence it would be nice to make your own ice cream that is like Ben & Jerry's! Preoccupation is, I'm a bit skeptical. Is it really possible to manufacture very good quality, creamy, toothsome ice cream by yourself using an ice cream maker? Or is it always never going to prospect up to the professional stuff? I had a breadmaking machine for over 2 years now, and have tried bizarre recipes with it, but the bread it churns out is never as worth as the real thing (I like Burgens bread and Warburton's)

And if you're unusually happy making your own ice cream with an ice cream machine, would you propound a particular model of machine, or would any ice cream appliance sold in big stores like Argos or Amazon do the same practice?
Savannah > the trouble is, I've never ever seen Ben & Jerry's ice cream on volunteer. I shop regularly at Asda and Tesco.

Ice cream machines are tuppence inexpensively and can be bought on Ebay or Amazon. Most of the brands on here are "good-hearted" ones. And yes I make homemade ice cream on a symmetrical basis. They joy is that you can have any flavor you want........add alittle bit of jalapeno essence to some and watch it enhance the flavor of the chocolate or cinnamon. Your ice cream sphere is endless when you make your own. The youngest one take to peanut butter in his!!! Add a bit of jelly to it and he will act all day waiting for his treat!!

Thoughts on attachments to Kitchen Aid Professional Plus 5 qt. stand mixer.?

I am unsteady over this mixer, which I just ordered. Has anyone utilized any of the optional attachments such as the juicer, pasta maker, ice cream maker, etc. and what do you value of the mixer and attachment?

The Pro Return will do the job with the attachments but I give it a thumbs down for the grinding attch. the motor labors at 325 watts, I traded up to the 600 scale model, there's nothing like having the juice when you extremity it. Pro Plus IS a great machine, don't get me damage, but then again I use a sledge hammer to put in a tack

Dippin' Dots, 'Ice Cream of the Future,' Files for Bankruptcy

Thursday was a sad day for amusement park aficionados, professional sports fans and moviegoers, as Dippin’ Dots, maker of the self-proclaimed “Ice Cream of the Future” that was sold wherever fun and frozen confections met, filed for bankruptcy protection.

The company, which sells flash-frozen ice cream shaped into round pellets, filed its Chapter 11 bankruptcy in federal court in Kentucky. In its filing, Dippin’ Dots listed $20.2 million in assets and $12 million in liabilities.

The company has been struggling with its creditors and owed more than $11 million to Regions Bank on eight different promissory notes at the time of the filing. In a cash collateral motion that accompanied the filing, it asked for court permission to spend its available cash on its own operations instead of paying the notes, which would enable it to continue doing business.

Without that cash, the motion read, the company would “not be able to pay its vendors, and its vendors will likely cease to provide goods and services.”

Gingerbread House contest will benefit the Women's Resource Center

"There are some creative houses in here," she said of the creations ranging in variety from barnyards and beach fronts to castles and pyramids.

Created by local professional chefs, bakers and caterers as well as school children, families and businesses, the houses are entries in the inaugural Home Sweet Home Gingerbread House Contest held to benefit the Women's Resource Center of Florida.

The gingerbread abodes will be judged Friday morning before the Junior League of Greater Winter Haven opens its Winter Haven Merry Market to the public in the Olde Towne Square downtown.

The Merry Market is an annual holiday shopping event benefitting the Junior League's projects, including the Women's Resource Center.

Home Sweet Home will offer Candy Land gingerbread house decorating -- located in the courtyard of the square -- for those who wish to create their own. Each $10 kit will provide a house, candy bag, bucket of icing and a spatula.

"They can make their own treasure and take it home for the holiday," said Bostick, who sits on the board of directors of the center.
