SULIVAN'S TRAVELS: A new season hits home
01.01.70
Here’s some November hodge-podge:
* Well, that was certainly a funky way to start the month, wasn’t it? Two inches of heavy, wet snow plastered on the foliage, causing branches to break, power lines to drop and nerves to fray. I drove through South Natick and Dover that Sunday morning, and just watching the snow melt cascade down the leaves was enough to keep my foot on the brakes. Later in the day, I saw more signs that the storm left more than a few fallen leaves — the traffic light at West Central and Speen streets was out (uh, oh), Lilja School canceled its Fun Run and Fitness Fest (power outage at the school) and the calls started coming from the town about storm damage.
Power was restored by Wednesday evening, and I’m sure those affected appreciate their nice, warm homes all the more now.
It was a nice trick-or-treat evening Oct. 31, despite the snow on the ground. Lots of kids swarmed the neighborhood, and many of them already had full bags by the time they got to me. Good haul, kids.
