How much to get the lead flashing around a chimney replaced?

I currently tangible in a 1950's brick built enterprise and have a leak from around the chimney. We have had a quote from a close by roofer to replace all the lead flashing around the chimney of about £800. Does this complain reasonable? Just it seems a lot to me, i know vanguard is expensive.

I don't remember what Garry would use. Chewing gum maybe. Fool is recognised as the only satisfactory material for roof and chimney flashing. A profit job should last the best part of 100 years.
If there is anything elevate surpass, I would love to know.
£800 is a bit steep. Fancy you he is including scaffolding, a leadworker to put the flashing, the cost of the lead, his metre, plus a tidy profit.
I would in at least three leadworkers, not builders. It may also pay you to arrange the scaffolding yourself. If you cut out the builder and have to do with directly with the leadworker you will save profit and get a decent job done. Few builders are good at leadwork, but they will have a go as its all well-heeled to them.

Do I have to have insulation in my chimney around the liner?

My chimney is old and I upstanding got a new high efficient furnace which is causing effloressence to make through the chimney walls - I need a chimney liner. I neediness to know why they pour insulation mix top to bottom in the chimney after installing the liner.

No, superficially they will pull the liner and will hook the appliance to it including the tone down heater, most 82% eff. furnaces order a liner because the condensation they produce is acidic, about like orange pith and this will attack the morter in the chimney, no insulation is required.

Tips for finding quake damage

BY PORTSIA SMITH

Earthquake damage may be hard to find, since it may appear to be just normal home wear and tear.

But officials with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency say that "hidden" damage can present major safety hazards that need to be detected and repaired.

State and federal officials say taking the following steps will help homeowners spot any earthquake damage that may not have been immediately apparent after the quake.

Examine the entire outside of the structure for collapse or obvious movement off the foundation.

Check the ground for areas where the ground may have shifted. Are there any breaks in fence lines or other structures that might indicate nearby damage?

Does the building look crooked or out of plumb?

Is the floor or roof pulling away or separated from the building supports?

Does the floor feel bouncy, soggy or mushy when you walk on it? This may indicate damage under the floor.
