Revenues and profits rise at Atlas Copco
Atlas Copco reported a 37% year-on-year rise in net profit for the nine months to 30 September, 2011, to SEK9.6 billion (€1 billion).
The equipment manufacturer's revenues also rose 17% for the period to SEK58.9 billion (€6.5 billion) amid increases at all its business segments.
But the company, which this year restructured its operations and increased business divisions from three to four , said it expected overall demand for its products and services to weaken in the short-term.
Ronnie Leten, president and CEO of Atlas Copco, said, "Considering the softening we have seen in the construction industry and the generally uncertain market situation, we have reviewed our contingency plans. We are confident that our operations are fit and well prepared, however the market develops."
The company recently announced a string of acquisitions , including that of SCA Schucker, a Germany-based manufacturer of adhesive equipment - a deal that Atlas Copco said presented new growth opportunities.
Atlas Copco's Portable Energy Division Announces New Products
Atlas Copco introduced a range of Tier 4A generators in the power category above 150 kVA in order to help its customers meet today’s Tier 4A emission standards. The QAS 150 JD T4a, QAS 250 JD T4a and QAS 330 JD T4a offer minimized energy use, noise levels and environmental impact.
The QAS 150 JD T4a, QAS 250 JD T4a and QAS 330 JD T4a are powered by a fully Tier 4A compliant John Deere engine with VGT (variable geometry turbocharger) technology. The three generators offer low noise levels and a significant increase in energy efficiency. One tank of diesel lasts up to 24 hours at full load.
The generators have a containment base to prevent leakage, offering customers significant environmental benefits. As a result, customers no longer have to be concerned with soil contamination.
“Our customers need portable equipment that is Tier 4A compliant, but that also helps them meet their business goals,” said Chuck Westhofen, factory product manager
