A Danby man who pleaded guilty to three felony charges in an illegal dumping case was ordered to pay almost $40,000 in fines and restitution when he was sentenced Thursday.
David McLellan, 60, was ordered to pay a $10,000 fine and $29,077 in restitution to the state, which spent $30,000 to clean up McLellan's service station on Route 7 in Mount Tabor, according to court records.

Military support group needs home
04.02.10
A Yuba-Sutter group dedicated to providing some necessities and small luxuries to U.S. soldiers serving far from home is about to be in need of a new home itself.
Tri-County Blue Star Moms have until Feb. 15 to find a new base of operations, after the group's rent-free stay in a Yuba City strip mall comes to an end with a gym moving into the space.
"It was an awesome space that allowed us to grow threefold," said Lori Danby, the group's president. "I'm anxious to see how moving will affect us."
The not-for-profit group collects donations and then assembles and sends care packages of snacks, toiletries and other items to soldiers serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and other overseas deployments.
Danby said the space the group has now, on Bogue Road west of Garden Highway, was ideal not only for storing supplies but turning them into packages, as well as having group meetings and open houses.
As she confirmed the impending vacancy at a Blue Star Moms meeting Wednesday evening, other directors said the shopping center location gave the group not only a regular space, but visibility.
