CFPD gives $13175 to local organizations
Community Foundation of Portage & District (CFPD) gave out another round of grants Monday to local organizations that totaled just over $13,000.
CFPD Chair Barney Christianson said the Foundation gives out a series of grants twice a year, and was able to give out more gifts this cycle because of the generous donation from the estate of Avis Degruelle last year.
"Each one of the organizations that received funds today has proven itself as a major and important player in our community. We're very proud to have the opportunity to support them in their endevours," said Christianson.
The Tupper St. Family Resource Centre received a grant from $2,800 to replace a stove and to purchase some counter top appliances for their programs.
"We have up to 200 families that come do programs with us and a lot of our programs deal with food prep. With this cheque today we are able to a new stove which we are very thankful for," said Sheila Mitchell, program coordinator at the Centre.
