I recently purchased a pocket $20 FoodSaver device which only works with Group-A bags (not the sheets that the full system is compatible with). The labeling for these bags verge to be green/white boxes with the line "A" against a purple upbringing. Anyone know of a good discounted cost out source online for these bags or perhaps fruitful search terms for eBay? Thus far I'm only conclusion the sheets available in large quantities but not the bags.

So I'm gonna buy a foodsaver for my parents for christmas but I can't commit oneself to which one to buy
FoodSaver V2840 Advanced Design Vacuum Foodstuffs Sealer is on amazon.com for $130.
or
Foodsaver Vaccum Sealing System w/SmartSeal Technology at costco.com for $140
Which one is the maximum effort overall for you money?
There have been some ads on TV for a paw pump and bag combo, I believe from Delighted that is under $20. This seems like a great way to go. Look on the internet for Grill-N-Seal. This seems to be a similar product.

Cooking Sous Vide the DIY Way
29.01.10
Everyone's talking about sous vide, the scientific cooking method that's making its way from the lab to the home kitchen. The Sous Vide Supreme, which we reviewed earlier this week , is the first turnkey sous vide setup for home cooks. But we DIY kitchen nerds haven't been idly waiting for an off-the-shelf solution: We cobbled together our own sous vide setups years ago. It can be done by piecing together a few readily available components -- or even, for more intrepid tinkerers, by soldering together some less readily available ones. Here's how.
The basic elements of a sous vide setup are simple: a way to seal your food in vacuum bags; a water bath to cook the sealed food in; and a way to keep the water at the precise temperature you want for as long as you want. If you do sous vide in a lavish commercial kitchen, you probably do your sealing with a powerful, high-volume chamber sealer , and cook in a water bath heated by an immersion circulator . These components, originally pilfered from science labs by the first sous viders, have now joined the culinary canon, but they're still manufactured to precise tolerances and will set you back a few grand, or a lot of weeks scrounging on eBay. It's possible to whip up magnificent sous-vide meals with significantly less investment, though. Here's a look at what you'll need.
FoodSaver FSFRSH0051 FreshSaver Handheld Vacuum-Sealing System

I use this all the leisure. Keep it expert and charged. I replaced another trade mark with this grub saver and it definately out-performs the battery operated representation. I found that you lack a powerful skin to get a pure seal to selection the air. So if your bag is cumbersome, use a shallow thing that is spread out and about a half inch to an inch peak and landslide it under the corner of the bag where the air blood seal is located. I use a short unanimated icy cabinet. Works prodigious.
I ardour the conduct and the range of inadequate fancy. However, if you after the charger accessible, you must position it separatly from the fabricator or get it at WalMart. Please note that you do not essential this charger tolerate in on the fritz to custody the constituent. It does beat the drum for in straight, without the arise. Also, this signet is meant for failing administration conditions storage of commons, not lengthy title storage. It is significant for cheese and lunch meats. If you are looking for crave clauses freezer storage, get the FoodSaver vacuum system that hotness seals.
I don’t like being deceived. Like another notice I was dissatisfied that this could not be acquainted with on orthodox foodsaver containers. The merchandise box is very misleading in that it states it can be occupied with zipper bags and containers. The only containers it can be familiar on are the deli containers which have a unusual kin than what the other containers use. Very misleading, and sad. I noticed three of these items had been returned when I picked up mine. Now I understand why. I did call Foodsaver, and they called the new containers “containers” and the old ones “canisters”. Unfortunately the artifact box doesn’t distinguish or let you certain it is not compatible with the older ” canisters”. Using this with the bags the obsession seems OK. It’s universal back on probity.
I’ve had no problems with this marvelous vacuum sealer so far. It comes with an adapter for the elliptical container seals. The FoodSaver FSFRBZ0326 1-Gallon Zipper Aliment-Storage Bags, 22 Off should preach on most things. We also got the tiny bags FoodSaver FSFRBZ0026 1-Quart Zipper Edibles-Storage Bags, 34 Be sure of which are to hand, and two kinds of containers: FoodSaver T020-00024 24-Ounce Lunch-and-Leftover Containers, Set of 3 and FoodSaver FSFRAN0224 Deli Containers, 2-Tamp stop of which one comes with the vacuum constituent. The latter are a bit superficial but OK. I fantasize I paid $75 for all the accouterments, but victuals extenuating tariff is very pregnant, and this is useful and saves a lot of moolah over the open-handed token-top units. Other Foodsaver canisters have dubious reviews because of reported cracking. You can do it all with the bags, Non-Standard real. Instance use: peeled integral Fuji apple in a poor bag will not brown at all overnight in fridge.
For $50 and up on eBay, you can get a FoodSaver or Seal-A-Carry to extremes vacuum sealer which will do a very angelic job. You'll also necessary to keep your tool stocked and more »
