KitchenAid stand mixer problem...?

I'm not definite if this is the right category but I think it's as nigh unto as I can get. I have a year and a half old Kitchenaid Artisan Confirm Mixer. I've only used it about a dozen times, and the last in the good old days b simultaneously was sometime in the past 2 1/2 months (it's been since we moved in August)--it worked tickety-boo then. Today I turned it on to make chocolate chime in cookies, and it was making a weird valid. I thought it was because the butter wasn't in every respect soft (all I was mixing was butter and sugar), but after about 30 seconds it little by little slowed down, and then stopped entirely. Now I cannot get it to sack on the lowest speed at all, and the second alacrity stops within 30 seconds. The higher speeds seem to labour fine. This happens even with the beater off, and in whatever market I plug it into.

Has anybody else ever experienced this? Is there any way to fix it, by myself or at a navy center? I didn't get the extended assurance because I couldn't afford it at the time, and because my mom has had a Kitchenaid mixer for 30 years and NEVER had a trouble with it.

I'm so upset, my mixer is my favorite part of the kitchen and I can't be convinced of it's already broken :(
