Canton, CT Real Estate: Where Buyers Are Snapping Up Properties Powder Mill ...

At the heart of the community is a village green lined with maple trees and crowned by a gazebo. It offers plenty of open space for residents and guests to toss a ball, play Frisbee or just enjoy some relaxing time in the sun. From the green it is easy to view the pleasing array of variations in the traditional colonial style homes that make up Powder Mill Village.
The three-bedroom model home at 9 Valleyview Lane comes with a two-car garage and exemplifies the premium construction that is the hallmark of all By Carrier homes. From the curb, one can see that the model home site is near the highest point of the development. Views of nearby hills can be seen through the mature native trees that ring the neighborhood. Their graceful distribution allows for refreshing breezes in summer and a "big sky" view that adds a heavenly aura to an evening stroll.
The sheltered front door to the home is just a few steps away from the garage and is flanked by glass panels that take advantage of the home's south facing orientation to let plenty of sunlight flow into the entrance foyer. Durable red oak flooring in a natural finish extends from the foyer throughout the main floor and connects the open floor plan of the kitchen, dining and great room areas. Just off the foyer is an 11-foot by 11-foot study that also has a pair of south facing windows and can be used as a library or home office. Shadow box molding wraps around the study and continues up the staircase leading to the second floor.

Dishwasher detergents can leave a milky film

Phosphate-free detergents have been on the market for a while now, and although Consumer Reports has found many that clean well, some readers arent completely happy with them. Theyve complained about a buildup of white residue on dishware over time.
As a result, CR started a new test in which a set of clean glass dishware and uncoated aluminum sheets are washed 20 times, simulating more than a month of machine washing, using the same detergent and with very hard water. (Only 12 of the rated products have been subjected to that new test so far, so it was not a factor in the overall scoring.)
Results of the tough new test showed that readers might have a reason to complain about some products. Method Smarty Dish, a very good cleaner otherwise, eventually turned glassware milky white, as did the bottom-rated 365. And aluminum sheets discolored after they were washed repeatedly with those two products.
