( EMAILWIRE.COM , October 13, 2011 ) Overland Park, KS – With Fall approaching the Overland Park Dryer Vent Cleaning Wizard notices how people are busy with home maintenance chores such as winterizing the lawn and bedding down flowers. With the yard cleaned up, the old cracked dryer vent hood , covered with moss will stick out like a sore thumb. Harold Bert, owner of Dryer Vent Wizard notices this more than most people because dryer vent systems are his specialty.
“People need to check their dryer vent when they’re doing their regular seasonal maintenance,” said Bert. “More important, check it when the dryer is running; you should see the exhaust coming of it. Bartlesville firefighters respond to Sonic grease fire
21.09.11
BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - A grease fire Wednesday night at Bartlesville's east side Sonic Drive-In resulted in no structural damage or injuries, according to Bartlesville fire officials.
“It looked about 100 times worse than it actually ended up being,” Bartlesville Fire Chief Bob told 2News.
He said shortly after 8 p.m. firefighters were dispatched to Sonic located at the Nowata Road and Washington Boulevard intersection due to a fire.
Firefighters arriving on scene three minutes later saw heavy black smoke and flames pouring out of the roof through the kitchen hood vent.
Hasbrook said workers in the kitchen had been cleaning out a deep fat fryer when the grease caught fire sending flames into the hood vent, lighting grease that had built up in the vent. The manager on duty seeing the flames tried using a fire extinguisher, but it was not until a system built in the hood kicked on that the kitchen fire was brought under control.
Firefighters then arriving on scene put out the remaining fire in the hood vent and kitchen after PSO had cut power to the building. They left after spending two hours knocking down the flames and doing clean-up operations.
