The Hokies eliminated the Yellow Jackets from contention with Thursday night's 37-26 win in Atlanta, moving one step closer to their fifth Coastal Division title in the game's seven years.
The Hokies have two games left -- at home against North Carolina on Thursday and at Virginia on Nov. 26.
With Virginia as the only team that can catch it, Virginia Tech's scenarios for winning the division are fairly simple: a win coupled with a Cavaliers loss and the Hokies take the division.
That could happen next week. If the Hokies beat North Carolina on Thursday and the Cavaliers lose to Florida State in Tallahassee, a place they've struggled traditionally, Virginia Tech could clinch it this week.
A Hokies loss or a Cavaliers win puts everything on the line when the teams meet in Charlottesville two days after Thanksgiving.
Tech men, women sweep
The Yellow Jackets had little trouble adjusting to both circumstances and rolled to a 92-59 victory against Florida A&M Friday. Their guards picked up the scoring slack left by suspended swingman Glen Rice Jr. to lead an energetic effort in front of a crowed announced at 2,590 at Gwinnett Arena.

Guards Mfon Udofia, Brandon Reed and Nick Foreman combined to make 7 of 11 3-point attempts. Reed, a transfer from Arkansas State, led Tech with 16 points and Udofia had 15 points and six assists in 26 minutes.
