Restaurants in Coral Springs, Boca Raton cited by state inspectors

Critical violations of state sanitation and safety laws observed by inspectors at two South Florida restaurants last week prompted the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation to temporarily close them on an emergency basis.
Top Taste Bakery & Restaurant, 11012 Wiles Road, Coral Springs was closed Oct. 26 after an inspector observed a roach infestation among 10 critical health and safety violations that included: more than 30 dead roaches in a kitchen glue trap; 13 live roaches in the kitchen that were on the floor, front service area, in a glue trap and behind a cooler; an employee engaged in food preparation without washing hands; single-use gloves were not changed as needed after changing tasks or when damaged or soiled; an employee was drinking from an open beverage container in food prep or other restricted area; a LP-gas cylinder with greater than 1 pound capacity was inside a building; working containers of food were removed from the original container and not identified by the common name; chicken, beans and meat were prepared on site, held more than 24 hours and not properly date-marked, and soil residue was observed in storage containers.
