Living room — or as we like to call it, The Dungeon of Sickness: A cauldron of germy air and surfaces, pet dander, mold and goo.
McNutt says: “There are mainly two ways germs are transmitted: orally and respiratory.”
Watch for: The remote control. Everyone in the house has used it, touched it and dropped it. The remote control is prone to contamination. Use a disinfectant wipe or soap and water at least once a week to go over the surface. If someone in your home is sick, disinfect it after each use.
Wall-to-wall carpeting. Why does it scare us? Because it is so hard to clean thoroughly. Wall-to-wall carpets trap thousands of germs. Allergens from shoes, pet dander and mold can live deep inside the material, not to mention blood. If you already have wall-to-wall carpets, use a vacuum with a high-efficiency particulate air filter. A better alternative is to use area rugs, which can be machine-washed (and are easier to roll up to transport dead bodies).
TAMPA - The American Heart Association is responding to a recent report from the Centers for Disease Control on sodium, calling the CDC's guidelines "too conservative."
The CDC recommends that people in high risk groups stick to sodium guidelines of 1,500 mg a day. Generally, healthy individuals should stick to a daily sodium limit of 2,300 mg per day, but the AHA is recommending a daily limit of 1,500 mg for everyone.
According to the AHA, 90 percent of adults will develop high blood pressure.
"Given that most of us will develop high blood pressure with age, we all should be consuming less than 1,500 mg a day of sodium, unless your healthcare provider has told you that this doesn't apply to you," said Clyde Yancy, M.D., former AHA president.
Barbara Ruhs, a registered dietician with Basha's, says we should avoid frozen and packaged foods. Roughly 75 percent of sodium is found in packaged and prepared foods.
Here are some suggestions to cut back on salt.

Cigarette LighterWith cigarettes being the go-to currency of preference for prisoners (at least the movies would have you swear by this), there wouldn’t be much use for a smokable commodity if there was no way to disclose it. Prisoners are forbidden from having lighters and matches for self-explanatory reasons, so some nimble-fingered inmates have devised a way around the rules. This warning of a lighter is a comprehensible yet knowing envisage, a AA battery is wrapped in duct seal with a wire strapped to the cancelling end. Simplly brush the other side of the wire to the irrefutable end and the metal twist in the center of the wire heats up.
