LAKE ISABELLA: There has been a fair to good bite on catfish on shad and clams in most coves. Most of the cats are in the 11â2- to 3-pound range, but some to 6 or 7 pounds. The bluegill bite is slow to fair on crickets and wax worms. Only a few trout reported, but the bite is improving as water cools. All other species have been slow with very few crappie, bass or carp reports.
KERN RIVER: Trout action had been very good with a lot of quality 2- to 4-pound rainbows salmon eggs, crickets and nightcrawlers in the upper river. Fly anglers are seeing very good action in the Johnsondale bridge and Brush Creek regions. In the lower river flows are down and the region is very fishable. A few bass and trout are showing in the Richbar and Hobo region. The GordonÃs Ferry area producing quite a few catfish on clams.
AQUEDUCT NEAR TAFT: The striped bass bite continues to improve with a fair to good bite on blood worms and a few on Gitzits, Flukes and bucktail jigs. Lots of three- to five-pound fish (22 to 24-inches) with most over the 18-inch minimum keeper size. The catfish and carp bites are slow.

KERN RIVER: Trout action had been very good with a lot of quality 2- to 4-pound rainbows salmon eggs and nightcrawlers in the upper river. Fly anglers are seeing very good action in the Johnsondale bridge and Brush Creek regions. There continues to be weekly plants in the river above Isabella. In the lower river, flows dropped to 1,300 cfs, a few bass and trout are showing in the Richbar and Hobo region. Gordon's Ferry area producing quite a few catfish.
AQUEDUCT NEAR TAFT: The striped bass bite continues to improve with a pretty good bite on blood worms and a few on Gitzit and bucktail jigs. The heavy weed growth is finally subsiding. Lots of 4- to 5-pound fish (22 to 24-inches) with most over the 18-inch minimum keeper size. Catfish, carp bites slow.
