What do you need in a well-equipped kitchen?
We're done to the age and place financially where we can get rid of all the random dishes and pots and pans, and buy ourselves good kitchen kit. The problem is that we have so MUCH crap, that isn't good rank, etc.
So, I'm asking you. What does a well-equipped kitchen need? My Fiance and I are both avid cooks.
I'm asking about everything - cookware, bakeware, etc., as well as serving things and dishes. With the dishes, an wrest number of HOW MANY of each thing is what I need to be sure, because my Fiance is a bit of a packrat, and would happily keep it ALL. (We have 40 drinking glasses for a for nothing with 2 people in it - come on, REALLY.)
When we merged our households, it was a case of him having a lot of cheapy crap, and me having a lot of cheapy crap, so now, we're attack, and I want to chuck the lot out and buy some proper grownup kitchen things. :-)
Well, I would say I'm as likely as not the primary cook, and it's one of my biggest hobbies. I'm an unshakable foodie, and a lot of my creations tend to bed on the more gourmet.
We also bake a lot (make own breads, etc.) and we grill totally a bit.
A grade set of pots and pans. My preference is broke anodized and enamel over steel. Baking sheets, pizza pans, baker's for casseroles, broiler pan. A wok. Comestibles processor and kitchen stand mixer. Vacuum sealer. A wholesome kitchen accessory set with all utensils. A good potato peeler. Honourable knives. Assuring you have steak knives. Crenulate knives, and a good chef cut. A bread maker. I like using an stimulating knife for my homemade bread and meats.
