The Boston real estate investment firm Stag Industrial has paid $8.1 million for the OPW Fueling Containment Systems property in Smithfield.
OPW provides underground fuel containers to gas stations and has operated a warehouse and distribution facility since 2001 from its 191,450-square-foot building at 3250 US Highway 70 West in Smithfield. OPW had acquired the assets of Environ Holdings in Smithfield in 2006.
OPW’s building, which still has about 10 years remaining on its lease term, was sold to Stag Industrial Inc. (NYSE: STAG) of Boston, according to a release from the real estate company. Stag owns a portfolio of more than 101 properties in 26 states in the U.S. consisting of mostly single-tenant industrial properties.
The OPW building acquisition brings the company’s total acquisition volume since the company’s April 2011 initial public offering to about $92 million.
OPW is a subsidiary of Dover Corp. (NYSE: DOV) of Downers Grove, Ill., which is a global manufacturer of industrial products that had more than $6.7 billion in sales last year.
