Oil Fired Hot Water Heaters - Kitchen - Kitchen Appliances

How good are Bradford White oil fired hot water tanks?

I currently have a Bock oil fired hot water heater, but it is 30 years old and on borrowed period. I want to stay with an oil fired unit, but I was wondering how honourableness the Bradford White oil fired heaters are. I read they have a six promise on the tank and two years on the burner, which is improved then Bocks'. Also, what is the average price for a Bradford 32 gallon epitome. Bock runs about $1,200-1,300 for a 32 gallon assay.

Cant recite you on prices but am familiar with Bradford Waxen water heaters. they are excellant, have a good warranty and will last for years.
Is 32 Gallon sized honourableness for your family. BW also makes 40 gallon sizes

Can you replace the tank only on an oil fired hot water heater and re-use the burner?

I have a 10 yr old oil-fired hot water heater that has started to tear from the top. I have been told I need to replace the whole fixation, but it seems to me you should be able to re-use the burner since it is still good and change only the tank itself. Are the tanks sold one by one? would this save me money? Would savings from the newer "more effective" burner cover the reserve cost of replacing the whole thing?

Yes it can be done, not true about where to buy tank separate though. I've worked with them and have interchanged parts without unpleasantness.

Ilios Introduces Natural Gas Engine Driven High Efficiency Water Heater

WALTHAM, Mass., Nov. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Ilios Dynamics, a subsidiary of Tecogen Inc., today announced commercial availability of the Ilios High Efficiency Water Heater. Powered by a highly efficient natural gas engine, this water heating module extracts energy from the atmosphere and pumps this heat to useful temperatures. Free waste heat from the engine is captured and repurposed, adding to the unit's capacity and efficiency. Ideal for commercial and industrial sites with substantial hot water requirements, the Ilios High Efficiency Water Heater offers up to twice the efficiency and half the fuel consumption of a conventional gas-fired boiler.

The highly efficient heat pump with reclaimed engine waste heat results in a coefficient of performance (COP) of 1.2 to 1.8. It can produce 400,000 to 600,000 BTU/hr of hot water, which is ideal for commercial domestic hot water, process hot water or space heating in commercial buildings and manufacturing facilities. The Ilios High Efficiency Water Heater is an alternative to conventional systems at facilities with a gas demand of 2,000 therms per month or more; Ilios units are modular and scalable to serve larger thermal loads.

Wood Boilers A Hot Topic

— TIVERTON — Faced with a proliferation of outdoor wood-burning furnaces and no zoning rules to govern them or they smoke they produce, the Town Council voted Oct. 11 to adopt a six-month moratorium on the acceptance of new applications for their installation.

The temporary halt was amended — just prior to the final vote — to apply it to new applications, not to installation or operation of those already permitted.

The moratorium was unanimously recommended by the Planning Board to allow it time to draft and hold hearings on regulations meant to address the devices.

Called outdoor hydronic heaters (OHHs), the units are now installed mostly on properties in rural parts of town. More may be on the way.

John Manchester, a licensed arborist and owner of Manchester’s Tree & Landscaping on Main Road, has had one for five years that he uses to heat his garage and three greenhouses. ‘I love it,” he said. Mr. Manchester has a “Classic” made by Central Boiler in Greenbush, Minn.

A few of you may bear in mind I have a recant condition from a lot of you in that the coal stove was my belief, not DK's. He has been strictly hands off. I had to potter him screaming to the impression. Now it's my relaxation. I take for granted it's a gear detail he is at least paying concentration; a other team of eyes is always a produce attitude but he better not get too active. I have a floret bed dedicated to coal. I've directed him to poke, around, rake, rake, shovel, shovel, wave, squeeze...not inexorably in that require. It's facetious, Lisa, I've caught him downstairs looking at the stove, too and he's started giving me recommendation on how I should pile, upset, etc. I often cause to remember him that I skilled in how to shipment a gun as well as the stove! Must be a man inanimate object. I discern, I differentiate, we're a minority here, but it's accurate. Most of you guys would rather the fairer sex stayed in the Nautical galley! Hardly teasing you all. Well this is my first edible withering coal and the most impressive point I found was this accommodate doesn't have to be unmoved .I started blazing my Kodiak in Oct and haven't had to relight...
