I have tolerant of them in a closed in shop with no problems. Simply leave a small door or window unencumbered so the fumes can escape. Those heaters are the greatest!!! We toughened Kerosene in ours as well. There were not many fumes or vapors from it. I would not run a staggering one in a small area though.

You indubitably have dust in the pilot safety. Magnify it out but don't monkey with the flap on the pilot or it won't exertion right. the ODS pilot safety will get a cobweb in it, I use a rarely rust buster to flush the lead.
